Visible Media Group pop artist Cayerio (pronounced kay-re- o) released his new single “I Get Down” on Feb. 15, 2011. The single, available on cayerio.com, iTunes, Napster, and visible.edu, is the first release from his new full-length album, Monday Night Dance Party, to be released by VMG this spring.
“I Get Down” has a vintage sound, reminiscent of Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force; Zapp and Roger; and “The Show.” The single showcases Cayerio’s simple, clean style and energy.
“‘I Get Down’ is all about sentimental recollection – like nostalgia – it just makes people want to move cause that’s what you remember doing when you first heard music like this,” said Corey “Cayerio” Sanders. “It captures an ‘old-skool’ hip-hop flow with a college drumline feel that reminds listeners of a time when all beef was settled on the dance floor. It’s feel-good music, and I’m pumped for people to hear it.”
Memphis native, and magnetic front-man of Speakerboxx, Cayerio is making his mark on the music world, but not with the traditional two turntables and microphone. Cayerio blends elements of hip-hop, rock, and pop into one cohesive and melodic sound with a five-piece band that doesn’t fit comfortably into any one genre. Cayerio and Speakerboxx, though rooted in hip- hop, tours with indie rock and pop-punk bands and features live instruments and musicians instead of tracks and basic drumbeats. Monday Night Dance Party releases in spring 2011, and features everything from old-school electronica and b-boy breaks to futuristic chords and gritty bass lines – or “electroswagrock,” a phase coined by the album’s producer Kirk Kienzle.
